Redefining the Shophouse Typology / Art gallery, Singapore Ken Lou Studio / National University of Singapore
"Preservation and redefinition of the shophouse typology is explored in the creation of an artists' enclave. All but the existing party walls are demolished. Gallery spaces are intertwined with the living and working environments of an artist's personal space. public and private spaces mediate between these shells of time in a modern reprogramming of activity that ironically returns to its past work-live relationship. It is a celebration and preservation of the shophouse, but with a post-modern twist."
